Meta to allow rival AI chatbots on WhatsApp in EU for a fee

In response to European Commission antitrust regulators, Meta will permit general purpose AI chatbots from competitors to operate on WhatsApp Business API in Europe for the next 12 months, charging a fee. This policy shift could foster a more competitive AI ecosystem benefiting smaller AI-native companies and solo founders.
